If you haven't already seen/heard, Pantone announced before Christmas that their Colour of The Year for 2019 is 'Living Coral'.
What does that mean for you, as a person and a business owner?
Well, besides anything else it means as the year goes on you will see more and more of it in the shops and online. From t-shirts and jumpers through to sofas and cushions, you name it, you'll find it in coral by the end of the year.
As a business owner - it's great for you to be aware of the Colour of the Year as this will heavily influence trends and fashions across the world and by keeping on trend, you can make yourself feel more relevant to your target audience.
How to use the Colour of the Year in your business?
I've put together a few ideas of how you might be able to use 'Living Coral' in your business this year. Of course there are a million ways you could use it and this list is by no means exhaustive. If you have your own ideas, I'd love to hear them so let me know in the comments or over on my social channels!
Product based/retail businesses:
If you design your own products, why not create something new to join your range, using the Pantone Colour of the Year?
Consider adding coral to your colour options on products where customers choose their own colour, for example: promotional merchandise such as pens.
Keep an eye out for updates as all large suppliers are bound to send out information about stock which will be available in new colours.
If you're a food retailer, you could update your packaging for new products to incorporate the colour.
If you make food items, how about creating a new version of an existing product that simply incorporates the new colour, for example: if you make cupcakes with floral icing, how about using a coral colour icing?
Service based businesses:
Don't get too hung up on the colour, it's important that your branding remains 'on brand'. So I don't recommend suddenly changing everything to coral, unless that suits your business and your style.
You could use the Colour of the Year to give your website a refresh - if you've had the same colour palette for a long time perhaps it's time to perk things up a bit with a bang on trend splash of colour? Websites are easy to update and change and even just changing the colour of your links/buttons can really make a difference.
There are so many things you could do - Pinterest is great for inspiration so why not check out my 'Coral Inspiration' board and see what you can find!
